🏞 History of Jim Corbett National Park

Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, it was the first national park in Asia. Later, it was renamed after Jim Corbett, the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist who played a key role in wildlife protection in the region. In 1973, the Government of India launched the famous Project Tiger conservation initiative here, making Corbett a cornerstone of India’s tiger conservation efforts.

Jeep Safari in Jim Corbett National Park is the best way to explore the picturesque dense forest of Corbett Park where travelers can enjoy bird watching and sighting of the wild animals in their natural habitat. The park offers the open Jungle Jeep Safari in the six Safari Zones  which is commonly known as Bijrani Zone, Jhirna Zone, Dhela Zone, Dhikala Zone, Durgadevi  Zone, and Dhela Zone Dhikala Safari Zone is the most favorite place among travelers which is reopened from 15th of November every year. Jhiran & Dhela Safari zones remain open through the year. Bijrani Safari Zone which is the 2nd highest visitors after Dhikala Zone reopens from 15th of October each year.  

In Dhikala Safari zone Day jungle Safari is not available. The travelers can get the permit for the night stay in the different Forest Rest House of Dhikala Zone i.e. Dhikala Forest Rest House, Sarpduli Forest Rest House, Gairal FRH, and Sultan FRH.  Day visits to all zones are strictly regulated by the forest department and only a limited number of vehicles are allowed to enter during morning and afternoon shifts.
